Zoe and her mum made it a bit of a girl's weekend away when they travelled from Melbourne to come and have their photos taken. The day was absolutely terrible: windy, overcast, cold and then when we started shooting the skies cleared, wind dropped and we were given some glorious sunshine. Got to be happy with that...cloud cover for half of the shoot and some glorious backlight to finish off :) They were both really given the full country experience too when poor Zoe needed a nature break and there were no facilities near by! Thank you so much Jessica and Zoe for a really lovely and fun afternoon and for driving all that way to see me.

Another hot day down in the billabong at gorgeous Morrison's Winery, Moama but again that didn't seem to bother anyone else but me....must be my South West blood....it just can't get used to the heat up here, even after 12 years!! (Goodess, 12 years! Time flies when you're having fun). Although I do think that at least one of the bridal party may have been feeling it too but the lack of clothing they were wearing towards the end of the shoot...oh dear! Jacinta and Nick, it was so wonderful to spend such a special day with you both. You were both so at ease with each other and in front of the camera, which was just lovely to watch. I hope you both had the best day ever and that it's only the beginning of many, many, many more perfect days to come.

Karli and Jeremy's Wedding

When Karli and Jeremy began planning their perfect day I don't think they ever imagined there would a be a third little person along for the ride, but not long after planning began they found out they were pregnant. This certainly made Karli rethink her dress design! Karli looked simply wonderful though and managed to not let the heat phase her one little bit....a mean feat for anyone, let along someone who's 35 weeks pregnant! It was such a perfect day under the trees at Moama on Murray for you both. I hope the next few weeks are smooth sailing, and I can't wait to hear of the news of bubs arrival! Kate and Shaun's wedding

I was really looking forward to Kate and Shuan's big day. I'm a bit of a regular down at the Moama PO (read this as me being very unorganised and doing a trip there nearly everyday to post something instead of doing it all in one go), so tend to see quite a bit of them. I knew Kate would be a gorgeous bride as she somehow manages to rock even her work uniform, and I certainly wasn't wrong. My kids eagerly sat and watched their photos upload onto my computer (they love that Kate and Shaun never tell them off for touching all the books at the PO) and even Toby, who's 4 said,
"Mum, Kate's beautiful!" Seeing the "church dust" effect Shaun's eyes as Kate walked down the aisle towards him was another beautiful moment...but really, who could blame the guy. He even earned himself a new nickname on the day showing his love for Kate....but we won't go into that here! ;) I had a wonderful day with you all, despite the heat. You all made it so easy and fun, especially the wonderful tips on camera use and posing...brilliant! Thank you both so much for entrusting this very special day with. I wish you both all the happiness in the world.

It was wonderful to finally get to meet little Harlee. We've all been waiting for her Mummy and Daddy to bring her over from Tassie ever since she was born. Oh dear, I was running so late to this session with Joss and Flynn....although, it may have played in to my hands as the light was just amazing while we were shooting :) The colors of the grass and the two beautiful old chairs that Moray bought with her that had belonged to herself and her father as children. I've known these two gorgeous fellows since they've been born, although I don't see near enough of them, or their parents now that we have shifted to Moama. It was great to have them over for a bbq and to try and take a few snaps in between chatting and playing in the cubby! I was so excited to be using the chair that I was surprised with at Christmas time. I just LOVE it. I can't say the same for Tyler though...he was far less impressed!

Bribed on to the chair with lollies....this was the "Ummm....where are my lollies gone?" look. Which was followed by a swift exit from the chair when there was no more lollies forthcoming!

This was literally the ONLY photo I could get of the two of them together where Tyler wasn't crying and trying to escape!! Poor Thomas, he just kept smiling!!

Trishelle and Todd's wedding

Morrison's seems to be where I've spent a lot of time this wedding season....and I'm certainly not complaining, with beautiful light and locations to work with all in one spot! I knew I was in for a wonderful day though as soon as I saw Trishelle. She looked nothing short of amazing, and her dress was to die for. She even walked down the aisle to "Songbird," so of course I cried. :) I also love that fact that these two meet in London at a random party, when they had grown up not to far from each in neighbouring towns in country Victoria! Now that's fate playing a hand!! As the temperature rose, we stayed cool down in the billabong at Morrison's, with the photo shoot taking no time at, as everyone was so easy and fun to work with. Thank you! I hope your day was everything you dreamed it would be and more Trishelle and Todd, and that you're future together is just as perfect.

Renee and Dale's Wedding

It was a gorgeous day in Barham for Renee and Dale's wedding, which was perfect as they drove about town with the top down on Dale's hot rod. This was a bit of a bone of contention however with all in the bridal party as everyone wanted to sit in the back of the convertible and not in the covered in one! Both were amazing cars though. Renee and Dale were attended by their nieces and nephews, and I've never witnessed such a wonderfully behaved group of kids! There was always someone on hand to hold flowers or drinks, fetch things that were needed and carry Renee's train. I don't think her dress touched the ground all day, unless it was for a photograph! I think the girls should hire themselves out as professional flower girls!! I was also privileged to see a very touching moment. As Renee came down the aisle to a beautiful rendition of 'Songbird,' (one of my all time favourites), it was Dale who had to wipe away the tears. :) All the best for you future together Renee and Dale, I am sure it will be nothing short of spectacular.

Poor Olive's Mum emailed me desperately wanting a spot as Olive had a loose tooth. I was able to fit them in, but unfortunately the tooth had other ideas and was gone before the photos. Not to worry though, as you could barely tell and it still captures that precious, gappy moment in time that we all go through. These three may look little, but they were full of big personalities! I especially love the "kiss" that the twins have for each other, and Olive's 'rockstar' attitude. Thanks for bringing your crew all the way from Bendigo Julie.

Lauren and Curtis' Wedding

I couldn't have thought of a better wedding to start off a brand new year with. Lauren and Curtis had planned a vintage themed wedding, complete with retro dresses, a gorgeous old convertible, funky record invites and a wonderful splash of red. I love photographing something different and fun and this was certainly right up there. The day had been a very hot one, although by the time 4.30pm arrived we had some thick cloud cover...by the time 6pm rolled around we had a full blown dust storm with gale force winds on our hands! Of course this occurred just as we were about to head out and do some shots of the bridal party around Coriander. We waited for the main part of the storm to blow over and then everyone was very brave and ventured out into the weather...although I must admit we did take all of the images sheltered behind two shed. This didn't stop the wind whipping in and playing havoc with the poor girls full skirts though! What a wonderful bridal party though, to not complain and still manage to have loads of fun and laughs along the way. I must also mention the personal vows that Lauren and Curtis exchanged...they were so honest, heartfelt, true, special and funny...just what I think your lives will be like together. Never dull, that's for sure! Thank you both so much for trusting me to capture your amazing day.

Another beautiful idea....Lauren asked everyone to bring along a flower to the wedding. These were then made up into bouquets for Lauren and her two bridesmaids by two clever friends. Wonderful!

The wind played along perfectly so we could recreate the Marilyn shot! The poor girls actually had quite a bit of trouble keeping those gorgeous dresses under control!

What a wonderful wedding to finish up my 2011 wedding season: a relaxed, farm affair with the lovely Tanya and Justin. Tanya and the girls arrived by tractor to the service, which was held in a gorgeous farm, garden. Justin was pretty relaxed about where we went for photos as long as there was farms and tractors involved!! Ozzie the dog was even part of the day, being the well behaved, ring bearer. It was so sweet to watch him waiting for Tanya to arrive and the moment he saw her, he ran to her and assisted in escorting her down the aisle! The sky even came to the party, putting on a gogeous show of storm clouds :) I hope you enjoy your break away from harvest....and remember your promise Tanya to support Justin through the long hours of cropping and harvest...you're a brave girl ;)

Another gorgeous little return customer came to visit me on Friday...although being only a newborn last year, I'm sure she doesn't remember! Olivia was far more interested in playing with props...(especially the teapot, which makes an awesome crashing sound when you bash the lid down on it,) than getting her photo taken though. My bad rendition of "Big Red Car" managed to get her looking my way...even if it was in bemusement! It was lovely to see you all again Andrea, Chris and Olivia.

Play Dough - Presents for little friends

Again, not photography related, but another fun idea to try. After our success with creating gifts for the teachers, Toby wanted to expand the range to include their day care friends. We decided to make little gift packs of brightly coloured play dough. Each child received three tubs, plus a cute Christmas Cookie Cutter that I found in House.

This is the recepie I used:

1 cup salt

2 cups water

2 Tbsp cream of tartar

2 cups plain flour

2 tsp cooking oil

food colouring

Mix all ingredients together and heat for 2 -3 minutes until mixture thickens.

Store in an airtight container. Keeps for months.

It's from the 2007 Timboon Kindergarten Recipe Book and works a treat.

I made a double batch and kept it white. Once it was cooled enough we broke it into small balls and went about colouring each one. The kids had a great time using the three primary coloured food dyes to make a huge variety of colours. We used EC Kindergarten food dye, which is super bright. I found it in Office Choice.

I did find that I needed to work flour into each ball as we mixed the colours in as we needed quite a bit to get some colours, especially red. I would also recommend maybe wearing some thin rubber gloves....my hands are still rather multi-coloured!!

I found the little containers at a party shot. They are the containers that Chinese takeaway shops use to put their sauces in. I wanted to top the containers off somehow, and found the Christmas labels I used at this site http://www.ishareprintables.com/.

We delivered our gifts today and they went down a treat!

Cookies for Santa - Teacher/Neighbour gift idea

Ok, so this post is completely photography unrelated, but I wanted to share the gift we made for the kid's preschool teachers, day carer and the people in our street. It's a great idea if you are strapped for time but still want to do something with a personal touch. Toby wanted to bake cookies but I was reluctant, as my cooking is not the hottest thing going around....I didn't think poisoning the people we are thankful for was a great way to say "Merry Christmas!" So I found an awesome idea (on Pinterest of course) to do that involved baking, just not me doing it!!

Enter the gift in a jar! I saw an idea that involved popping the dry ingredients for cookies into a jar and then the receiver simply needs to add egg and butter and voila! Instant cookie dough! No mess, no fuss, no cooking by me! Win - Win!!

I found my recipe on this wonderful site: http://www.bakerella.com/mix-things-up/ and tested it out first to make sure it was fool proof. If I could do it, ANYONE can!! This site also explains which order to pack your ingredients in so they stay separated in the jar.

I then found some lovely jars in House, made some labels in Photoshop, tied on some ribbon and jingle bells and made a cute tag (another idea I adapted from Pinterest....man I love that site), and all done!

Now off to deliver our gifts!

How to get "starry" lights in your Christmas Tree photos

I always love taking a photo of my Christmas tree each year, but want to keep that warm, glowy, starry effect that you just cant get with the lights on....and certainly not with a flash.

You will need an SLR and a tripod (or very stable surface, with no chance of camera movement) for this one, but it is really easy. It also works best if you have nice bright lights. You will notice in this photo that the bottom half of the tree has brighter, sparklier lights than the top. This is because my 2nd set decided to stop working between last Christmas and this one....typicial! It must be so tough hanging out in the cupboard all year!! The last minute ring-ins are just not doing it for me, but they'll do for now.

Usually in low light conditions you would open you fstop right up to allow as much light into your camera as possible, however the only way to get the starry look on your lights is to close it right down. This is why you need a tripod to hold the camera steady. It was evening when I took this. I turned off my lights and I put my ISO on 500. You could go much higher though, but as I was using a tripod I didn't bother going faster. I set my fstop at 22 and shutter speed was then at 10.0 sec...slow, I know! I carefully squeezed the shutter release to avoid any camera movement, and sat back and waited.

The resulting pic is so lovely and warm and glowy.....you'd never guess it was 34 degrees outside!

Jess and Garth's Wedding

Oh man, I'm feeling the pressure on this blog post, knowing that Jess and her sister are followers of my blog and are waiting for this post with much anticipation! I tend to waffle away on here, not really thinking that anyone will read my ramblings...but I know these girls do! Should I be profound, witty, insightful? No, I think I'll just be honest. It was a great day yesterday Jess and Garth and I have really enjoyed working on these images. I loved that you made me think of different ways to pose the two of you, and put me out of my comfort zone. I always fall back on the old hand holding, but after watching Jess' inability to get Garth to hold her hand during the ceremony (finally resorting to putting her hand in his pocket) and learning how much Garth is not a hand holder (insert over the top arm swinging images here) I had to think of other ways to capture these two. The ute that Jess and the girls arrived in was amazing and just perfect for the bush setting at Morrison's and lent itself to being a wonderful photo prop! I must also make a special mention of Jess' amazing flowers....they really did try to steal the show! Thanks to you both for putting your faith in me. I hope you had the best day every and enjoy your time in Bali!

I can't believe it was 18 months ago that I last photographed this gorgeous family. It seems like it was only a few months ago, but when I saw them again they have all grown up so much. They really are fantastic kids and so, so fun to work with, and when things got a little tiring it was nothing a little milk and lollipops couldn't fix! We found out that Tan really enjoys her milk! Thanks again Melissa for bringing your kids to be photographed by me, and for trusting all of my ideas. I'm not sure what's in the water at the moment, but I just seem to be inundated with gorgeous babies to photograph! This little darling, Charlotte is again the daughter of one of my past wedding couples. I photographed Lynda and Tim's wedding in May last year. Lynda bought Charlotte all the way from Howlong to have some photographs taken....and I must admit we were beginning to wonder if they would happen at all. She did NOT want to fall asleep, but after about an hour she finally gave in and we were able to snap away. Luckily I worked quickly though as we did one position change too many and that was it, she was done and would not be put down happily again! She makes a perfect little Christmas baby Lynda, thanks so much for bringing her to see me.

I meet gorgeous little Imogen's parents when I photographed their wedding early last year. Even though this is my busiest time of the year I always find time to photograph the bubs of my past bridal couples. I feel so honoured to be a tiny part of the next step in their lives, and little babies do not stay this tiny for very long at all. Little Imogen was asleep when I first arrived and we were quickly able to take some very cute shots of her sleeping soundly. However, once I tried to move her she woke.....and that was it! No more sleeping for Imogen....even when I came back a second time to try again. She was still very cute though, giving me a variety of little diva like poses to work with! Thanks Anita and Tim for trusting me with this time in your daughter's life. I can't wait to see what the future hold for her.

Aleesha and Michael's wedding

It was looking very ominous for Aleesha and Michael's outdoor wedding at the beautiful Paradise Gardens. Rain showers, thunder and dark, dark clouds were all about, however as soon as 3pm arrived we were blessed with a break in the weather and only had to contend with a few light showers...nothing a few big umbrellas couldn't combat. Thank you all for being so accommodating too when I randomly pulled over on the side of the road as the lighting, storm clouds, and long grass were all just too perfect to pass by! I think it was worth the stop as you both look fantastic! I hope you're enjoying your time away and not having to put up with too many 'schoolies!'

Carmen and Stacey had organised some fantastic locations for their wedding photos...however, they forgot to organise the weather for the day! ;) The rain meant that the fantastic farm and crop locations were very muddy....but they both kept insisting they didn't care, so onwards we went! Totally fine with me, but I'm not sure Carmen's dress, veil and shoes would agree....all got muddy! :( Everybody had about 10cm added to their heights with the build up of mud on their shoes!! Oh well, it was all for a good shot!! Thank you Carmen and Stacey for your forward planning with the photos, wonderful easy going natures and your "whatever will be will be" attitudes! Tegan and Josh's wedding

I've never meet a bride so willing to take care of everybody else on her own wedding day! When I arrived, Tegan had finished both her bridesmaid's hairdos and was working on her Aunty! All the while managing to stay calm and look perfectly glamorous! Amazing! You could really see that Josh thought himself one very lucky fellow when his bride made her way down the aisle....and often when she was having her photo taken too. I would notice him watching her, and could tell he was just blown away by how gorgeous she was. We had lots of fun doing these photos, as everyone was relaxed, chatty and up for a good time....perfect working conditions for me!! With the unique wedding date of 11.11.11, Amber will have no worries getting Fill to remember their wedding anniversary. Although, I don't think he'll be requiring a quirky date to remember this day....it was too unforgettable. Amber was simply breathtaking, and such a relaxed and humble bride....just a pleasure to be around. She wanted a relaxed and country style wedding and I think they achieved that perfectly. Amber arrived in one of Billabong Ranches wonderful horse drawn carriages, they were married aboard the PS Pevensey and then we took photographs in the paddocks with Amber and Brooke donning boots. Amber and Fill were up for all suggestions, even holding a bucket we found on location...it just seemed to fit! I'm so glad that you liked that gate photo when we first meet, thus giving me the chance to shoot your wonderful day.

I feel like we have been waiting forever for little Harrison to arrive, and it's so exciting to finally have him here! Harrison's family are great friends of ours and his big brother is Toby's very bestest, cool friend (his words) in the whole world! Unfortunately this has lead to Toby wanting a baby of his own. He has even taking to spying on hubby and I from the top of the stairs, announcing with glee when he saw us on the couch together cuddling the cat, "How exciting Georgie, they're having a baby!!!" Oh dear! Thanks Bec, see what you've done?! Your little Harrison is absolutely perfect though and I can't wait for lots more cuddles (from which I can happily pass him back) at Mum's Group. What a lucky girl I was to have such a wonderful couple as Carlin and Mark to work with on my 100th wedding shoot! They were a fantastic pair to be around, along with their gorgeous son Ryder. Well, the day didn't get off to the best start with poor Amy having a slight wardrobe malfunction, but to Stacey's absolute credit she didn't bat an eyelid and calmly took it all in her stride. The dress was fixed in no time at all and Stacey and her gorgeous maids were still able to glide down the aisle at 2.35...perfect. Although Stacey may have been able to take everything that came her way, I must say that I may have been tested a little by one groomsman in particular.....I won't go in to lots of detail, but he was very keen to try one shot in particular...let's just say I had other ideas!! Hahaha, it all makes for a fun day, and keeps me on my toes! That's what makes a shoot a lot of fun though, if everyone is relaxed and ready to have a great time. So thanks Stacey and Aaron for being wonderful to work with. I know you are going to have the best time on your honeymoon. I'm so jealous! Have a bet for me in Vegas!

Brooke and Kane's Wedding

When Brooke booked it felt like we had so much time to plan and organise what was required for her big day's shoot, but before we had known it 18 months had flown by and here was the day upon us! What was a very overcast day, turned in to an absolutely stunning day at about 3.50pm, just before Brooke and Kane were to be married....perfect. We had limited time to do our bridal party photo shoot, but the time was very well used with all bridal party on their very best behaviour (well, most of them....there were a few unscheduled toilet breaks, hey boys! lol) to allow us to get the photos we needed. Thanks everyone! :) The light also played the game wonderfully, and was just perfect for the whole time! Yay! Thanks for a lovely afternoon Kane, Brooke and Finlay, and for trusting me to capture your wedding for you.

Amali and Audrey

I spent a very enjoyable afternoon with Amali, Audrey and their parents. Amali was every little bit the super model in the making, pulling out all the moves and cute little expressions...every photographer's dream. Audrey, every bit as gorgeous, was a little bit trickier to capture, but then that just made the ones we got that much more satisfying. The girls both loved the old bike I bought along....but it was a toss up to see who loved it more, them or their Dad!

Sophie, Lloyd and Jett

When I arrived to photograph this gorgeous family only little Jett was ready for me but that was ok as his little smile just lit up when the camera was aimed his way! I was so spoilt with photo spots at the family's beautiful property and can see why there's a brilliant skier in the family....what a perfect addition the Murray River would make to any backyard!! I loved the connection these three had, and I could clearly see that Jett, even though he was the smallest, ran the show, with Lloyd and Sophie obviously wrapped around his little finger. Thanks for allowing me in to your home for the afternoon, and giving me a glimpse of who you all are.

It was lovely to spend the afternoon with Renee, chatting about her impending motherhood....I just hope I didn't share too many stories and scare her off. Oh well, it's too late now, this bub is well and truly on it's way! I can't wait to hear your news Renee and to meet your beautiful bub for its first ever photoshoot.

Rochelle and Shaun's Wedding

What a glorious day for a wedding! From the moment I stepped in to Carrington Manor and gazed up at the grand staircase I was swept up in the day entirely. I sighed at the site of Rochelle's gown, gasped at her beauty as she stepped in to it and shed a tear along with everyone else at Michelle's reading. That's one thing I still can't shake! After almost 100 weddings I still cry! Pathetic, I know, but I think the day I stop crying will be the day it's time to stop. Rochelle and Shaun (well mainly Rochelle I guess) had everything planned to the minute but it meant the day went without a hassle or a worry and lots of fun could be had instead. They even managed to emerge on the balcony of Carrington Manor, Prince and Princess style, to surprise and wave to their guests below. Thank you for beautiful day Rochelle and Shaun and enjoy every moment of your time in Europe....I'm not jealous much!

And there didn't appear to be one crooked smile in sight! ;)

Well, here it is, my last blog post from my trip down South....saved from a friend from up North who now lives just around the corner from where I grew up. I first meet Bree in my very first week of teaching, fresh out of Uni. She tried to be the little smart alec on that first day....but we ended up forming a friendship over the next few years that I truly value. I've left teaching behind and Bree now has 4 gorgeous children and I was so excited to be able to photograph them for her. I had images in my head of long grass, picnics, blossom trees and it was all going so well until our invited guests arrived.....leeches! Eeeeewwwwww!!! Bree's squeals as she found two on her were enough to send everyone scurrying and there was no more shooting at our perfect little spot for that day! Even though it was a little disastrous I'm so glad I spent some time with you all....although I think you may be right; perhaps we do just try for a cuppa next time! ;)

I got to spend the morning running around a farm with Allison and her family. It was pretty wet under foot but we still managed to have fun and get some great shots. The girls (especially Chelsie) just loved their horse and he was so tolerant as they lay all over him :) Thanks for a lovely morning.

It was so wonderful to spend time with Renee and her family again, especially now that there is baby number 3 on the way! Poor Renee though was battling the flu and was such a trooper on the beach. You'd never know how terrible she felt from how good she looks in her photos. I can't wait to hear the news of the birth....will it be Emily or Violet who gets it right?
